Scholarship Information

Scholarships are a great way to pay for school.  They are typically considered “free money” that doesn’t need to be paid back later.  Some scholarships may require a commitment agreement once the student has graduated.  For example, someone might apply for a scholarship directed toward education majors.  If the student qualifies for the scholarship and accepts the money to help them pay for school, the scholarship may come with a stipulation requiring the student to teach in an intercity public school for a number of years once they graduate otherwise the student may be required to pay back the scholarship.  It is important for students to understand the terms and conditions of any financial assistance whether it be grants, scholarships, or loans, before accepting anything.

Most schools offer a first time freshman scholarship award.  This award is given to graduating high school students who are entering college for the first time as a freshman.  Most schools will automatically use your application for admission when determining if you qualify for the first time freshman award.  It is important that you submit your application for admission as early as possible to ensure your ability to receive a first time freshman award.  Each school will also offer other scholarships that you may qualify for, depending on your major of study, your academic achievement, your financial need, etc.  It is your responsibility to submit any extra application information/forms needed.  You should make sure to submit all applications or forms before their required due date.

Students can also find other scholarships in many different places such as, your local church, hospitals, organizations/businesses, etc.  Finding scholarships can become tedious and hard work but when it’s all said and done you’ll be forever grateful when your entire tuition is paid for in full without you or your parents having to take the money out of your own pockets.  If you need help searching for scholarships Your Academic Advisor will be happy to help.  To get started all you have to do is fill out the form on our Need Help page.
